New hatchback cars to be launched in 2017: Complete list


With less than a week left for the New Year, the year 2017 is expected to be an exciting one considering the number of products scheduled to roll out in this year. With plenty of products to be launched next year, new safety norms will also be implemented by the year 2017. However, the year 2016 was a mixed bag of opportunities for the Indian auto industry which comprised of Delhi Auto Expo, extensive list of car and bike launches, NGT ban, demonetization and much more which made an impact on the industry. With the arrival of the year 2017, Indian auto industry is yet again pumped up to witness positive news that will improve the sentiments of the auto industry. Taking things further, we bring you the list of new hatchbacks that are scheduled to be rolled out by 2017.

 Next generation 2017 Maruti Swift

Suzuki Motor Corporation has launched the highly awaited 2017 Swift hatch in the Japanese market with an attractive price point of Yen 1,343,520 which is approximately INR 7.76 Lakh (ex-showroom). The India-spec Swift 2017 is expected to hit India by mid of 2017 which will flaunt its exterior design which includes large hexagonal grille, sweptback automatic LED headlamps, wider air-dam with integrated fog lamps, floating roof and much more. Under the hood, it will be equipped with the same set of engines – 1.2-litre K-Series petrol unit and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine.
Hyundai Grand i10 Facelift

Hyundai India, country’s second largest automaker is also gearing up to bring the refreshed version of Grand i10 in order to revive the sales of the hatchback. Expected to be launched sometime next year, the mid-life facelifted Grand i10 is likely to feature some modifications done in-terms of its exterior styling. Under the hood, the facelift version of the hatch will carry same set of engines – 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.1-litre diesel engine.
Maruti Baleno RS
Buoyed by the excellent response for the regular Baleno, Maruti Suzuki India is all set to introduce the powerful derivative of the premium hatch – Baleno RS. The powerful premium hatch was anticipated to arrive in the market by this year during festive period. However, Baleno RS is all set to hit Indian market by February next year. Powering this powerful hatch will be a 1.0 litre BoosterJet petrol engine which will produce max power of 110 bhp against the peak torque of 170Nm
2017 Nissan Micra
Nissan is presently looking to go premium with its fifth generation Micra that is anticipated to hit Indian market by next year. Likely to be slotted in the price range of INR 6 - 9 lakh, the new generation Micra was also put on show recently at 2016 Paris Motor Show. For the global markets, the new Micra will be equipped with extensive range of engines options, however, India-spec Micra is likely to carry same engine options.







2017 Honda Unicorn 160 Gets BSIV Compliant Engine

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has silently introduced the 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 with an updated BSIV engine and a few cosmetic upgrades.
The 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 relies on the same 162.71cc, single-cylinder engine paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The new BSIV compliant motor delivers a peak power of 13.82bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.92Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. While, the BSIII compliant version was capable of producing 14.5bhp with 14.61Nm.

Changes on the 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 include a new visor and Auto Headlamp On (AHO). Honda has also increased height of the bike by 2mm. For 2017, the Unicorn also receives a new Matte Blue colour. The regular shade variants get BSIV monikers – Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, Matte Axis Grey, Pearl Amazing White and Imperial Red Metallic.
Similar to the old model, the 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 continues to come with Combined Braking System (CBS). Based on the diamond frame, the bike rides on the same 80/100-17 up front and 110/80-17 rear tyres. It comes equipped with 240mm disc and 130mm drum brakes. Talking about the pricing, the new Unicorn 160 with a BSIV compliant engine could be priced a tad higher than the BSIII version. As for now, the company  hasn’t announced prices of the new BSIV compliant Unicorn 160. The standard BSIII variant is priced at Rs 73,481, and the CBS variant costs Rs 75,934 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS was unveiled in the 2014 Auto Expo. This bike carries a very sporty look and is an ideal choice for the young urban crowd. Packed with a lot of high end technological features and power packed performance, this bike is indeed impressive.Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS is huge and has a fairing with many lines and looks quite overdone. The fuel tank is big and has a capacity of about 15 litres. The design of the chassis has been adapted from the model NS200. The tail light design is a unique one and is the first to be seen in Indian bikes. Adding to these utility features are best placed on this bike such as an analog tachometer and digital speedometer along with a tiny screen displaying essential details.

Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS is powered by a power packed engine resulting in stunning performance on the roads. It is equipped with a 375cc liquid cooled fuel-injected engine. Though the exact figures of the power have not yet been displayed, being a make from the successful brand has held a lot of hopes onto the audience. However, it could be expect that the power could be slightly lower than the 390 Duke.
